Sites you might like

I thought I would share a few photo sites that may be of interest to you.

Steve’s Digicams

www.steves-digicams.com/ Their tag line is “The consumer’s best source of digital camera information and news.” I’ve used this place for years to make decisions about what camera to buy or which one to recommend for friends.  They have great camera reviews, always up to date. There’s also a Knowledge Center with interesting articles.  Here are some recent ones:

  • 5 Great Online Portfolio Hosting Websites
  • The 3 Best Sites to Sell Stock Photographs
  • The Amazing World of Insect Photography

There’s a recommended reading section  and a section with how-to articles in the following categories:

Becoming a Professional Photographer
Buying & Selling
Camcorder Operation
Camera Phone Operation
Digital Camera Operation
Film and Video Production
Filmmaking Tips
Online Sharing & Social Networking
Photo Accessories
Photo Software
Photography Techniques
Photography Tips
Troubleshooting & Repair
Video Software

Dave Johnson’s Digital Focus

At one point it was a newsletter but now has switched to a blog.  Hosted by PC World.  Sign up to get notified when he publishes a new article.  He writes a lot of good stuff about how to do things with your photo editing software.

2 Guys Photo

A nice blog site run by two brothers

“2 Guys Photo is a website dedicated to emerging photographers everywhere. The 2 Guys are Ed and Rey, brothers living in New England (United States) who fell in love with photography as young boys and who have continued to be in love with it since. ”

Smugmug Daily Community

A community of photographers sharing work.  The idea is that you post a photo every day, get some comments and comment on others’ work.

Digital Photo Pro

An online photo magazine.

New York Institute of Photography

The web site of a photography school has some good free articles.

Photo Jojo

A quirky site with a free newsletter and some interesting articles.  They also sell some unusual stuff.
